VICTOR VICTORIA (Edwards, 1982) - This was cool and gender-bendy and an often funny farce, but I have surprisingly little to say about it., even two days later. I didn’t see the attraction of the King Marchand character, but his struggle with being perceived as gay (and his compensation by doing super”manly” things like, well, getting the shit beaten out of him) was interesting enough, especially when contrasted with his bodyguard’s sunny acceptance of his actual gayness. Oh, and Julie Andrews is awesome. But you knew that, right?
