NIGHT NURSE (Wellman, 1931) - Man, I love Barbara Stanwyck. I know I write this pretty much every time I watch a movie she’s in, but she’s just awesome. She’s the best thing about this pre-code movie, which is rather incoherent but charming, and filled with things that would soon be forbidden - boozing, undressing, and a bootlegger who’s presented as a charming good guy. Clark Gable (sans moustache) plays the rake, but is rather wasted aside from one memorable smirk.
