UNDERWORLD U.S.A. (Fuller, 1961) - Another Fuller? Yes - I’ve gotten to appreciate his style. This one was a bit of a disappointment though: it must have been revolutionary at the time to see just how intertwined with ‘normal’ society the criminal world is, and to see the mob presented as a business, but it’s become almost a cliché by now. The murder of the little girl still shocks, though. And I thought Dolores Dorn, who plays ‘cuddles’, was very fascinating: the scene in which she proposes (more or less) is heartbreaking, and made me lose the little sympathy I had for the protagonist.
