A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS (Melendez, 1965) - The problem with seasonal movie-watching is that everyone can tell when you’ve been slacking off on write-ups. Oh well. This one wasn’t quite as all-out entertaining as GRINCH, but I liked it a lot, partly because I empathize with Charlie Brown: I always get a bit melancholy around the holidays, maybe because of all the social interactions, maybe because it’s the darkest time of the year, or maybe just because not being 100% happy during the “happiest time of the year” can already make you feel like, well, a grinch. The resolution of the short fell a bit flat, for me, but the overall mood was just lovely.
