DIE HARD (McTiernan, 1988) - We had a ridiculously lavish (pre-) Christmas dinner with friends last Thursday*, and we finished the night/early morning with an appropriate movie. I have to say, even if this was probably the 6th or 7th time I watched it, it more than holds up. It doesn’t waste any time getting to the point, it features both a great hero (Willis’ facial expressions are especially great), and a terrific villain with a great silky but threatening voice (Alan Rickman - who else?), plenty of explosions, one-liners, and general bad-assery. It rules.
*I still can’t believe 20 (twenty!) people had a sit-down dinner in our living room.
