COLOMBIANA (Megaton, 2011, C) - I can’t help it: I have a weakness for B-movies. This is the second one this year about a hitperson (after THE MECHANIC) and a quest for revenge. Like that one, this one’s sleek, with a sexy lead, few pretensions and lots of explosions. It’s not very well plotted*, and some notes feel a bit too obligatory (again like in THE MECHANIC, the targets are grotesquely villainous, and the moments stressing that revenge isn’t rewarding don’t quite gel), and to be quite honest I’d be hard-pressed to defend it as being a quality movie in any way, but for a Thursday night at the movies (in the seediest cinema in town, of course, it being the only place to find it) it’s strangely satisfying.

*Maybe a tad spoilerish, but really, you spend 4 years trying to get someone to come after you, and you never once consider just how they might do that?
